Summary

The law states all lifting operations involving lifting equipment must be properly planned by a competent person, appropriately supervised and carried out in a safe manner. All crane operators and people involved in slinging loads and directing lifting operations must be trained and competent.

Course Content

Understanding the relevant legislation; establishing the physical properties of the loads and communicating this to the crane operator; selecting the correct lifting tackle and attaching and detaching properly; understanding how to direct a crane by giving clear and unambiguous signals. Calculating safe working loads, potential hazards associated with crane operations and understanding crane safety devices; how to plan a lift.

Learning Outcomes & Assessment

Delegates will be aware of the law and how it relates to them.
