Summary
Loud noise at work can damage people’s hearing and lead to risks to safety as it can make warnings difficult to hear, placing people at risk of injury or death. This course explains the duties of employers and employees under the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005.
Course Content
- Understand the Regulations require employers to reduce or eliminate risks to health and safety from noise at work.
- Legal limits on noise exposure and “exposure action values”
- What information and protective equipment is to be provided by employers to employees and what is expected of employees.
- Provision of health surveillance
- How to identify whether the workplace is noisy and decide what action is required
- How to control noise and duties of machine manufacturers on noise
Learning Outcomes
Delegates will be aware of the law and how it relates to them. Delegates will understand

- legal duties on employers,
- role of employees
- how to identify whether a workplace is noisy
- how to control noise and prevent harm.
